Reiki

Every one can be initiated to Reiki. The attunement process enables the recipient to permanently open and connect to the Universal Reiki Energies on mental, physical, emotional and psychic level. It also clears and balances many important energy channels within the body.

Each attunement received, opens up to higher levels of healing and understanding Universal Spirituality.

It is very easy to learn Reiki. No special background or knowledge is required, so anyone of any age can learn and practice it.

Attunements are given by a Reiki Master and there are three formal levels of initiation.

REIKI LEVEL I At this level the initiate is permanently attuned and connected to the Reiki source of healing energy. Once initiated it allows a person to performing healing on oneself and others. It requires no special invocation or alteration of the thinking process to "turn on the flow" of Reiki. By simply placing the hands and opening the hart to love, one automatically brings in the energy.

The First Degree is the foundation for all three degrees, and should be mastered first before the person considered for the next level.

This level deals with physical issues.

REIKI LEVEL II The initiate is attuned again to better connect with energies that heal mental and emotional issues and that can travel across any distance and time. You can practice sending distance healing to your friends and family, even animals.

The power symbol learned can be used to help focus energy for specific purposes. In order to receive this initiation, one must have been previously attuned to Reiki I.

REIKI LEVEL III/MASTER All the Reiki energy is unlocked when attuned to this level. At this level the initiate will be able to perform Reiki attunements to others. One must have been previously attuned to Level I and II in order to receive this level.

Benefits…Reiki claims to provide many of the same benefits as traditional massage therapy, such as reducing stress, stimulating the immune system, increasing energy, and relieving the pain and symptoms of health conditions. Practitioners have reported success in helping patients with acute and chronic illnesses, from asthma and arthritis to trauma and recovery from surgery. Reiki is a gentle and safe technique, and has been used successfully in some hospitals. It has been found to be very calming and reassuring for those suffering from severe or fatal conditions. Reiki can been used by doctors, nurses, psychologists and other health professionals to bring touch and deeper caring into their healing practices.

FIRST DEGREE…First degree Reiki in the traditional Usui System is the one most widely known by the public. This is the hands-on treatment, or the laying on of hands. A first degree treatment involves the client laying on his/her back or stomach while the practitioner places his/her hands on the client from head to toe in positions roughly approximating the traditional chakra locations. The energy during the treatment flows through the practitioner's via the hands into the client. Many remarkable recoveries from serious physical conditions are known to Reiki practitioners throughout the world. Individuals can also treat themselves with first degree Reiki.

SECOND DEGREE…Second degree Reiki in the traditional Usui System involves sending Reiki long distance to a client many miles/kilometres away. The vibration of this Reiki is a slightly different mix, having a higher proportion of energy from Source and a lower proportion of Chi than first degree Reiki. Aside from long distance healing, this differing proportion brings healing at a mental, emotional, and spiritual level, compared to first degree Reiki, which is primarily physical healing. Second degree Reiki is not exclusively for long distance healing. It can be incorporated into a traditional table treatment with first degree, and it can also be administered to one's self.

THIRD DEGREE…Third degree Reiki in the traditional Usui system is the level of Reiki Master. The only thing a Reiki Master can do which a 1st or 2nd Degree practitioner cannot do is teach Reiki and give the Reiki attunements only a Reiki Master can do this.

First degree Reiki is primarily an etheric/physical healing energy. It has a tremendous ability to balance the chakras, remove negative energy from a person's auric field, relieve stress and heal the body in general.  
 
Second degree energy deals primarily with healing the mental and emotional levels of one's being. First degree energy is enhanced and amplified at least four times, and one is taught how to send the healing Reiki energy over a distance as well as to other points in time. Other advanced techniques are taught that can facilitate deep emotional healing, which is often the true cause of dis-ease. 
 
Third degree energy is of very spiritual nature. It integrates all levels of one's being and, as a result, initiates High Self contact. Master/Teacher training provides one with the ability to attune others and teach Reiki I, II or III classes.

The Attunement

Reiki is not taught in the way other healing techniques are taught. It is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during an attunement process. This process opens the crown, heart, and palm chakras and creates a special link between the student and the Reiki source.

The Reiki attunement is a powerful spiritual experience. The attunement energies are channeled into the student through the Reiki Master. The process is guided by the Rei or God-consciousness and makes adjustments in the process depending on the needs of each student. The attunement is also attended by Reiki guides and other spiritual beings who help implement the process. Many report having mystical experiences involving personal messages, healings, visions, and past life experiences.

The attunement can also increase psychic sensitivity. Students often report experiences involving: opening of the third eye, increased intuitive awareness, and other psychic abilities after receiving a Reiki attunement.

Once you have received a Reiki attunement, you will have Reiki for the remainder of your life. It does not wear off and you can never lose it. While one attunement is all you need for each level to be attuned to that level, additional attunements bring benefit. Experimentation has found that additional attunements of the same level add to the value of that level. These benefits include refinement of the Reiki energy one is channeling, increased strength of the energy, healing of personal problems, clarity of mind, increased psychic sensitivity, and a raised level of consciousness. At the Reiki support groups sponsored by the Center, additional attunements are usually given by someone who has taken Third degree Reiki, with no extra fee required.

The Reiki attunement can start a cleansing process that affects the physical body as well as the mind and emotions. Toxins that have been stored in the body may be released along with feelings and thought patterns that are no longer useful. Therefore, a process of purification prior to the attunement is recommended to improve the benefit one receives. See below for specific instructions on preparing for an attunement.

Preparing for an Attunement

In order to improve the results you receive during the attunement, a process of purification is recommended. This will allow the attunement energies to work more efficiently and create greater benefits for you. The following steps are optional. Follow them if you feel guided to do so.

1. Refrain from eating meat, fowl or fish for three days prior to the attunement. These foods often contain drugs in the form of penicillin and female hormones and toxins in the form of pesticides and heavy metals that make your system sluggish and throw it out of balance.

2. Consider a water or juice fast for one to three days especially if you already are a vegetarian or have experience with fasting.

3. Minimize your use of coffee and caffeine drinks or stop completely. They create imbalances in the nervous and endocrine systems. Use no caffeine drinks on the day of the attunement.

4. Use no alcohol for at least three days prior to the attunement.

5. Minimize or stop using sweets. Eat no chocolate.

6. If you smoke, cut back, and smoke as little as possible on the day of the attunement.

7. Meditate an hour a day for a least a week using a style you are familiar with or simply spend this time in silence.

8. Reduce or eliminate time watching TV, listening to the radio, and reading newspapers.

9. Go for quiet walks, spend time with nature, and get moderate exercise.

10. Give more attention to the subtle impressions and sensations within and around; contemplate their meaning.

11. Release all anger, fear, jealousy, hate, worry, etc. up to the light. Create a sacred space within and around you.

12. By receiving an attunement you will become part of a group of people who are using Reiki to heal themselves, and each other, and who are working together to heal the Earth. You will also be receiving help from Reiki guides and other spiritual beings who are also working towards these goals. While Reiki is not a religion, you may prepare your mind with intention work and pray in a religious mode comfortable to you to prepare to open to higher spiritual energies and experiences.
